Manu Bhaker finishes fifth in 10m air pistol final; misses medal at Asian Games 2026

Manu Bhaker’s medal hunt at the Asian Games 2026 fell just short on Wednesday, as the Indian shooter finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol final in Nagoya, getting eliminated right when the medals were still very much up for grabs.
It’s a bit of a heartbreaker, because Bhaker looked in good touch all day. She secured third place in the qualification round with a score of 579-20x, sitting just behind China’s Choo and Jiang.
She carried that momentum straight into the final too. Bhaker opened with 50.8 in her first series and was up to 100.3 after two series, numbers that had her sitting nicely in the mix for a medal.
Through the elimination stages, she kept pace with the leaders, moving to 120.4, then 140.4, then 160.7 as shooters kept getting cut around her. She just couldn’t last. Her final score was 181.1, and she was eliminated after the fourth round.

Bhaker ended up being India’s lone shooter in the final, since her teammates couldn’t get past qualification. Esha Singh finished 15th with 572-12x, and Suruchi Singh was further back at 26th with 568-12x. Neither made the cut for the top eight that goes through to the final.
Earlier, the trio of Bhaker, Esha and Suruchi had finished fourth in the women’s 10m air pistol team event, and honestly, it was about as close as these things get.
They tied on 1719 points with Vietnam, who took the bronze medal instead of India purely on countback, having shot 46 inner-tens to India’s 44. China ran away with gold on 1735-56x, and South Korea picked up silver with 1730-55x.
