Pranavi Urs becomes first Indian woman golfer to win gold at Asian Games

Pranavi is the first Indian woman to win Asian Games gold in golf.

Pranavi Urs is the Asian Games 2026 champion. The 23-year-old from Mysuru won gold in the women’s individual golf on Saturday, October 3, in Aichi-Nagoya. This was her second Asian Games.

She won by just a shot. Pranavi finished four rounds on 15-under 265 at the Kasugai Country Club East Course. Singapore’s Shannon Xuan Yin Tan and China’s Yin Ruoning shared silver after finishing at 14-under 266.

Six-time LPGA winner and 2023 Women’s PGA Championship Major champion Yin Ruoning won the silver medal by defeating Shannon Xuan in a shoot-off.

The last day was not easy. She began with a three-shot lead, but a triple bogey on the third hole erased her advantage. She fought back with three birdies, shot an even-par 70 and stayed in front. She sealed the title with a par putt on the 18th hole.

India also won silver in the women’s team event. Each round, the two best scores from the three players count. In the final round, Aditi Ashok shot 67, Pranavi shot 70, and Diksha Dagar shot 77. India finished on 14-under 546. China took gold on 22-under 538, eight shots ahead.

In 2025, she became the first Indian woman to win a professional tournament while competing alongside men, taking the IGPL Invitational Mumbai with a final-round 60.
