Asian Games 2026: Roshibina Devi reaches wushu final, eyes gold
Roshibina will face China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in gold medal match
India’s Roshibina Devi will play for gold at Asian Games 2026 after defeating Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas in the semi-finals in the women’s 60kg sanda Wushu event on Wednesday, September 23.
Roshibina, a two-time Asian Games medallist, was in fine form in her clash against Kusumaningtyas, securing a 2-0 win. The result ensured that the Indian Wushu star will walk away with at least a silver medal from the Aichi-Nagoya Games. The final will take place on Thursday, September 24.
It has been an incredible campaign for Roshibina, who was not even part of the original Indian Wushu contingent, having lost to Divyanshi Choudhary in the semi-final of the selection trials.

However, following Choudhary’s late withdrawal due to injury, Roshibina was drafted into the squad and has been the only Indian Wushu player projected to bring a medal from the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Roshibina has been one of the most successful Wushu players in Indian history. The 25-year-old Manipur native has enjoyed immense success at the Asian Games, winning a bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and a silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Games.
Earlier at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, she had defeated Bangladesh’s Shika Khatun in the pre-quarter-finals before securing a 5-0 win over Macao’s Chu Man Sin.
Now, Roshibina, an Arjuna Awardee in 2023, is aiming for a third consecutive medal at the continental tournament.

Meanwhile, both Vikran Baliyan (men’s sanda 75kg) and Aparna Dahiya (women’s sanda 52kg) crashed out after losing their opening matches. Aryan Sood, competing in the men’s sanda 56kg, was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
