Asian Games 2026 September 17 Results: Indian men's teqball pair knocked out in group stage
India’s Aichi-Nagoya Games campaign began on Thursday.
India began their campaign at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday, September 17, two days before the official opening ceremony of the 20th edition of the continental tournament.
India kicked off their campaign with the men’s doubles event in teqball, marking the sport’s debut at the Asian Games. Declan Marshall Gonsalves and Mohamed Anas Imran Beg became the first-ever Indians to play teqball in the continental competition.
The pair entered the Aichi-Nagoya Games with high expectations, having already secured India their first-ever teqball medal with a bronze at the 2024 World Championships in Vietnam.
India were placed in Group B. They opened their campaign with a group-stage match against Vietnam’s Truong Giang Ba and Anh Khoa Le, but lost 2-0 (12-10, 12-8).
In the second group game against South Korea’s Junsuk Lee and Taebeen Lee, India again lost 2-0 (12-4, 12-7). Both matches took place at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center.
Due to these defeats, India finished third in Group B and failed to reach the quarter-finals. This means that India lost their first medal opportunity in teqball, with two more events – women’s singles and mixed doubles – yet to take place.
