Animesh Kujur will take part in three events.
The Indian athletics contingent will begin their Asian Games 2026 campaign in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday, September 24. So far, the country has won 14 medals, including a gold in women’s cricket, and will look to add to that tally in athletics events.
One of the leading medal contenders for the 75-member Indian athletics contingent is sprinter Animesh Kujur. The Asian Athletics Championships bronze medalist is a national record-holder in the 200m, and he will represent his country at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
Along with his forte event, the 200m, Kujur will also compete in the 100m event. He is also part of the seven-member Indian squad competing in the mixed 4x100m relay event.
He will be expected to lead India’s medal charge in athletics, having already won bronze medals at the 2026 Asian Relays Championships, the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships, and the 2025 FISU World University Games.
