The Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket final between India and Pakistan is set to be one of the biggest matches of the tournament, with the gold medal on the line in Nisshin on October 3, 2026.
However, the weather could have a major role to play in the contest. Rain is expected around the venue, which could make it difficult for the two teams to complete the match.
If rain stops the match from getting a result, the rules for the 2026 Asian Games will decide what happens, with the process being different from the previous edition.
With both teams preparing for the gold medal clash, here is what the rules say if rain prevents the IND vs PAK final from producing a result.

In the 2023 men’s final, Afghanistan scored 112/5 in 18.2 overs before heavy rain stopped play. India could not begin their chase because the weather did not improve enough.
Since India were the higher-ranked T20I side, they were declared the champions under the rules in place at that time. Afghanistan received the silver medal. That system, howver, will not decide the result of the 2026 India-Pakistan final if rain prevents the match from producing a result.
If the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket final is completely washed out and no result is possible, India and Pakistan will both be awarded gold medals.
The rules have changed for the 2026 edition. A complete washout in the final will not give the gold medal to one team based on their ranking. Instead, both finalists will receive gold.
If enough overs are played, the DLS method can decide the winner. The chasing team needs to play at least five overs for the match to have a result. So, if the IND vs PAK final is completely washed out without a result, both teams will get gold. But if enough overs are played, DLS can decide the winner.
