She also bettered her personal best in the event to claim the bronze medal.
India's Parul Chaudhary secured a spot on the podium at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix Athletics meet with an impressive bronze medal win in the women's 3000m Steeplechase held on Friday.
The 28-year-old delivered an exceptional performance, achieving a personal best mark with a remarkable time of 9:29.51 to claim bronze. Madie Boreman from the United States, who clocked an impressive 9:22.99, won the gold medal.
Parul Chaudhary has shown remarkable progression in her performance over the years. In 2018, she achieved a time of 10:10.70 in Lucknow. The following year, in Doha, Qatar, she improved her time significantly to 10:03.43 in the Asian Athletics Championships. Chaudhary's dedication and hard work paid off when she further lowered her time to 9:51.01 in the 60th National Open Athletics Championships at the Stadium Hanamkonda in Warangal in September 2021.
Demonstrating her continued growth, she achieved an impressive time of 9:38.09 in the World Athletics Championships at Oregon, USA in 2022. Her recent personal best with a remarkable time of 9:29.51 showcases her unwavering determination and consistent improvement in the sport.
Apart from 3000m steeplechase, Parul, 27, holds the national record in women's 3000m (08:57.19) and recently (May 6th) recorded a personal best time of 15:10.35 in 5000m.
Lili Das finishes fourth in women's 800m
The Indian contingent achieved commendable performances in other events as well. In the women's 800m C category final, Lili Das secured the fourth position crossing the finish line with a season-best time of 2:05.27.
Jinson Johnson, Rahul finish 11 and 12th in men's 1500m final
In the men's 1500m B final, Jinson Johnson and Rahul finished in the 11th and 12th positions respectively. Jinson Johnson recorded a time of 3:42.97 while Rahul completed the race with a timing of 3:43.83. Both athletes recorded season-best timings.
