Santosh Tamilasaran won bronze in men's 400m.
Day four of Asian Athletics Championships 2023 produced some great results from India's point of view. The mixed 4x400m relay team - Rajesh Ramesh, Amoj Jacob, Aishwarya Mishra, and Subha Venkatesan bagged the gold medal by clocking 03:14.70 minutes. Subha in particular stole the show by running the last lap with vigour to emerge victorious. In the process the mixed team also broke the national record - previous 3.15.71 set at Asian Games in 2018.
High Jumper Sarvesh Anil Kushare and heptathlete Swapna Barman put up clinical performances to clinch the silver medal. Sarvesh from Maharashtra cleared bar at 2.26m - his season best performance. Commonwealth silver medallist, Tejaswin Shankar finished seventh by clearing 2.09m.
Swapna Barman registered 5840 points overall to clinch silver in women's heptathlon. In the process she registered a huge personal best mark in Javelin throw spearing the Javelin to 51.09m. Swapna has been producing consistent results since the return to the circuit having won the Inter States meet comprehensively.
Santhosh Tamilarasan won the bronze medal in men's 400m by clocking a an impressive 49.09 sec - PB. Other Indian in the final Yashas did not start the race. This is also the fastest time by a Indian hurdler this year. He has improved his personal best from 49.49sec to 49.09 sec. The national record stands in the name of Dharun Ayyasamy - 48.80sec and Santhosh will be hoping to breach the barrier as soon as possible.
Among the other Indians in the fray, national record holder in women's 100m hurdles Jyothi Yarraji qualified for 200m final after finishing first in the heats. Chanda too reached the final in women's 800m.
