Jyothi Yarraji secures silver medal in women's 200m at Asian Athletics Championships 2023
Jyothi Yarraji clocked her Personal Best timing to clinch the silver medal at the Asian Athletics Championships.
Jyothi Yarraji won her second medal in the Asian Athletics Championships 2023. After winning gold in the women's 100m hurdles with a timing of 13.13, she has now won silver in women's 200m with a season-best timing of 23.13 secs. Shanti Pereira Veronica (22.70) of Singapore. She also won the Gold Medal at the women's 100 M event. Bronze was won by Li Yuting (23.25) of China.
Jyothi clocked 23.85 to finish 2nd in heat 3 just after Japan's Remi Tsuruta (23.72) to qualify for the Semifinal. In Semifinal she won her heat with a Personal Best timing of 23.29. She then again bettered her timing to rewrite her new Personal Best Timing (23.13) in the Finals and thus win the Silver Medal.
Her next major tournament will be World Championships in Budapest, Hungary from 19 August to 27 August. She will focus on qualifying for the final of the World Championships, bettering her national record and getting Gold Medal at the Asian Games in her pet event (100 M Hurdles).
India finished 3rd at the Asian Athletics Championships with a total of 27 Medals (6 Gold, 12 Silver and 9 Bronze) behind China who finished second with a total of 22 medals (8 Gold, 8 Silver and 6 Bronze) and Japan who topped the table with a total of 37 Medals (16 Gold, 11 Silver and 10 Bronze).
