Ankita Dhyani won silver medal in women’s 3000m on the same day.

On the final day of the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024 in Tehran on February 19, Gulveer Singh secured India’s fourth gold medal by triumphing in the 3000m final race. Clocking a time of 8 minutes and 7.48 seconds, Gulveer claimed the top spot on the podium in this non-Olympic athletics event.

The silver and bronze medals went to Keneshbekov Nursultan from Kyrgyzstan (8:08.85) and Jalil Naseri from Iran (8:09.39) respectively.

Earlier in the same day’s events, Ankita clinched a silver medal in the women’s 3000m race, completing the competition with a time of 9:26.22.

The successful performance ended with India concluding the championships with a total of four gold medals and one silver.The medalist include Tajinderpal Singh Toor, the star shot putter, along with Jyothi Yarraji in the 100m hurdles and Harmilan Bains in the 1500m who secured individual gold medals on the opening day of the competitions last Saturday. Also, Tajinderpal and Jyothi surpassed their own national records.

This marked a significant improvement from the previous edition in Astana, Kazakhstan where India had secured one gold, six silver and one bronze.
