Athletes to watch at London Diamond League 2025
10. Roje Stona (Men’s discus)

Men’s discus throw is set with one of the finest fields assembled. Jamaica’s Olympic champion Roje Stona headlines the event, and he will face stiff competition from Sweden’s world champion Daniel Stahl, Lithuania’s world record holder Mykolas Alekna and British record holder Lawrence Okoye.
9. Molly Caudery (Great Britain – Women’s Pole Vault)

Women’s pole vault promises a fierce contest as Britain’s Molly Caudery looks for a victory on home soil. Standing in her path is none other than Katie Moon of the USA, the world number two and a seasoned champion.
8. Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine – Women’s High Jump)
The reigning queen of women’s high jump has looked nearly untouchable this season. With a string of top podium finishes and unmatched consistency, Yarsolova Mahuchikh enters London as the clear favourite though in this discipline, high stakes often set the stage for extraordinary performances.
7. Emmanuel Wanyonyi (Kenya – Men’s 800m)

Wanyonyi scorched the track in Monaco with a 1:41.44 which is the fastest time in the world this year. Still early in his career but already making waves and finding form. If Monaco was any indication, London could be just as explosive.
6. Josh Kerr (Great Britain – Men’s 1500m)

The reigning world champion and Olympic silver medallist returns to the Diamond League after Grand Slam victories in Miami and Philadelphia. Kerr will have to fend off strong competition but on home soil, the Scotsman is expected to deliver a tactically brilliant performance.
Kenya’s Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech and Britain’s George Mills, ranked second and third respectfully globally, are in the lineup alongside 2022 world champion Jake Wightman.
5. Donavan Brazier (USA – Men’s 800m)

After injury setbacks and time away from the Diamond League, Brazier’s return is one of the most anticipated storylines. With his explosive pace and race smarts, the 2019 world champion heads to London determined to prove he still belongs at the top of the men’s 800m.
4. Femke Bol (Netherlands – Women’s 400m Hurdles)

Femke Bol has taken control of the 400m hurdles like few before her by clocking a world-leading 51.95 in Monaco, rewriting the meet record and setting the season’s fastest time. Now, she arrives in London ready to reinforce her status at the top.
3. Julien Alfred (St Lucia – Women’s 200m)

Unstoppable might just describe Alfred’s 2025 season. The Olympic 100m gold medallist has lost only once all year and currently ranks world no. 2 in the 200m. Also, watch out for Brittany Brown, the world no. 3 from the USA who’s closing in fast on the top names.
You can also count on a roar for Dina Asher-Smith as Britain’s sprint queen is back and she knows how to deliver when the home crowd is behind her.
2. Letsile Tebogo (Botswana – Men’s 100m)

The 200m Olympic champion is hungry for redemption after falling short to Lyles in Monaco. Letsile Tebogo from Botswana thrives on big moments and London offers a golden chance to flip the script in front of a roaring crowd.
1. Noah Lyles (USA – Men’s 100m)

The reigning Olympic 100m champion is in peak condition having recently dominated the 200m in Monaco but London brings a different challenge, the 100m where the margins are tighter. Noah Lyles is chasing his world title defense and knows a statement performance in London is key.
Lining up against him is Botswana’s 200m Olympic champion, Letsile Tebogo in what’s shaping up to be an unmissable sprint spectacle. Joining the mix are Great Britain’s top contenders — Jeremiah Azu, the European indoor 60m champion and Zharnel Hughes, an Olympic relay bronze medallist as they look to shine in front of a home audience.
Also in the fray is Jamaica’s Oblique Seville, the only athlete to have defeated Lyles in a 100m final since 2023 making this one of the most stacked sprint fields of the season.
