Diamond League 2024: Schedule, Venues, Disciplines, Prize Money
The track and field will include two breaks this year.
The Diamond League was initially conceived to supplant the IAAF Golden League with a vision aimed at broadening the sport’s global footprint and now stands as the pinnacle in the World Athletics realm of elite track and field one-day events by hosting 15 premier invitational meetings annually.
While the Golden League primarily spotlighted European athletics, the Diamond League’s mission extends far beyond the continent’s borders. With an emphasis on expanding the sport’s reach worldwide, the series has ventured into new territories including China, Qatar, Morocco and the United States.
The Diamond League 2024 calendar spans from April to September comprising 15 track and field meets. It will commence on April 20 in Xiamen, China and will culminate with the prestigious Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium. This elite series of one-day events promises thrilling competition from April through mid-September.
The Diamond League schedule will include two breaks. The events will be on hold from June 2 to July 7 to allow individual countries to hold their Olympic qualifying trials. A second break is set from July 20 in London to August 22 in Lausanne for the Olympics, as athletics will be showcased in Paris from August 1 to 11.
Schedule
Beginning with a Chinese dual feature in Xiamen on April 20th and Shanghai on April 27th, the season will unfold with meetings in Doha, Rabat and Eugene, which will be followed by the series venturing to Oslo and Stockholm for the first European fixtures on May 30th and June 2nd.
Come July, the Paris, Monaco and London meetings will offer the athletes a platform to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Post-Olympics, competitors will have four more opportunities to accrue points in Lausanne, Silesia, Rome and Zurich, before leading to the season’s conclusion on September 13th-14th in Belgium at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, Brussels, marking the return of the season finale to the city for the first time since 2019.
A venue change is anticipated for two meetings in 2024 due to stadium renovation projects in their usual locations. The Meeting International Mohammed VI will relocate from Rabat to Marrakech and the Shanghai meeting will be hosted in Suzhou instead.

During each of the 14 series meetings, athletes receive points based on their rankings with first place earning eight points, second place receiving seven points and so on down to eighth place earning one point. Qualification for the final is determined by the top six in field events and the top eight for track events, except for the top 10 for 1500m and long-distance events. Additionally, one athlete may secure qualification in each discipline through a national or global wildcard entry.
Qualified athletes will participate in a decisive winner-takes-all showdown at the final to claim the title of Diamond League Champion in their respective disciplines.
