The season finale will be held in Zurich next August

The Wanda Diamond League 2027 season will begin in Doha on May 7 and conclude with the two-day season finale in Zurich on August 25–26.

The 18th season of athletics’ premier one-day meeting series will feature the world’s leading track and field athletes competing for places in the season final. The circuit will also provide an important opportunity for athletes to assess their form ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Beijing in September 2027.

Where will Diamond League 2027 meetings take place?

Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere

The 2027 calendar spans four continents—Asia, Africa, Europe and North America, with meetings hosted across 15 cities. Each leg offers athletes an opportunity to compete against elite international opposition and earn points towards qualification for the final.

Asia

Asia will host the season’s first three meetings. Doha, Qatar, will stage the season opener on May 7, followed by back-to-back meetings in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 15 and Xiamen on May 22.

The early-season meetings will give athletes an opportunity to establish momentum before the circuit moves to Africa and Europe.

Africa

Rabat, Morocco, will host the continent’s sole meeting on May 30, three days after the Rome meeting in Italy. The event will provide African athletes with a home-continent opportunity to compete against some of the world’s leading track and field stars.

Europe

Europe will host the largest share of the 2027 calendar, with meetings in Rome, Oslo, Stockholm, Paris, Monaco, Lausanne, London, Silesia and Brussels.

The European leg begins in Rome on May 27 and continues through the summer, with Silesia on August 15 and Brussels on August 20 serving as the final qualifying meetings before Zurich.

North America

Eugene, Oregon, in the United States, will host the only North American meeting on July 3. The venue is well known for elite athletics competitions and has hosted several memorable Diamond League performances. Its place in the middle of the season gives athletes another major opportunity to earn qualification points.

What is the Diamond League format for 2027?

The Diamond League is the premier global one-day meeting series in athletics. Launched in 2010, it brings together elite athletes across track and field disciplines at major international venues.

The series offers a season-long competition outside the Olympic Games and World Athletics Championships, with athletes competing for points and a place in the final.

The 2027 series will feature 32 disciplines across the men’s and women’s programmes. Athletes will earn points at the 14 qualifying meetings, with the most successful competitors progressing to the season ending final.

The final follows a winner-takes-all format in each discipline, with the champions receiving the prestigious Diamond Trophy.

The competition has built a distinguished history, with past champions including sprinting greats Usain Bolt and Allyson Felix, Jamaican star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, middle distance runner Faith Kipyegon and pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis.

The 2026 final in Brussels also produced 32 champions, including first time title winners such as Oblique Seville in the men’s 100m and Cameron Myers in the men’s 1500m. These results underline how the series brings together established champions and emerging talent, with each discipline offering its own title race.
