The Diamond League Finals 2024 will see athletes in action for two days.

The Diamond League is an apex-level track and field competition put together by World Athletics, where the best of the best compete with one another. This was instituted in the year 2010, replacing the IAAF Golden League.

With the intent to popularize athletics worldwide, Diamond League events were meant to take place even outside of Europe. Every year, the series consists of 15 meetings that take place all over the globe and culminate with a final wherein winners are declared for various events.

This will be the 15th Diamond League season, starting on April 20th and running until September 14th. The 15 events in this year’s Diamond League are scheduled to conclude in the final at Brussels, Belgium, on September 13-14. During the season, the athletes compete in various track and field events, whereby they gain points to book their place for the finale.

It has been a special season as the Paris Olympics 2024 added more excitement for the fans. Multiple Olympic champions will go head-to-head to clinch the Diamond League 2024 Finals title.

Athletes to watch out for at Diamond League Finals 2024

There are several standout performers that will be coming to play. Indian javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra will go into the final as one of the main contenders. The current Olympic silver medalist and two-time Diamond League champion secured his spot with 14 points from two second-placed finishes in Doha and Lausanne. Chopra will be challenged strong rivals such as Anderson Peters of Grenada, Julian Weber of Germany and Jakub Vadlech of Czechia.

Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is set to compete in both the 200m and 400m. Her versatility and an excellent track record will make her quite strong in both disciplines. The pole vault will also be focused on world record-holder Mondo Duplantis. A constant bettering of limits in his event from this in-form champion should ensure a title-winning performance.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen is another Norwegian middle-distance runner who always has great mastery in the 1500m and 5000m events for which his tactical astuteness and ability to always thrive under pressure make him one of the athletes to watch.

Faith Kipyegon, a two-time Olympic champion in the 1500m, is another who is expected to churn out her signature style: bursting with speed and endurance. Sha’Carri Richardson will be running the 100m and 200m. In a full season of racing, Richardson wants to show up big in Brussels against 100m women’s Olympic champion Julien Afred.

When & where is Diamond League Finals 2024 taking place?

The Diamond League Finals will take place in Brussels, Belgium from 13-14 September 2024. It forms the conclusion of the series of the 15-meeting Diamond League that began on April 20 in Xiamen.

The finals will feature top athletes from all over the world competing in their respective track and field disciplines at King Baudouin Stadium, the arena that holds approximately 50,000 fans.
