The Asian Athletics Championships will be held from May 27 to 31.

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has finalised and announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships 2025 after the conclusion of the Federation Cup Senior National Athletics Championships in Kochi.

The Federation Cup served as a selection trial for the Asian Championships, which is set to take place from May 27-31, 2025, in Gumi, South Korea. The continental meet will also serve as a crucial qualifying opportunity for the World Championships.

AFI President Bahadur Singh Sagoo and Chief Coach Radhakrishnan Nair emphasised that the requirements were that athletes needed to perform well at the Federation Cup and secure a top-two finish to validate their previous performances.

The only athletes granted exemption were those who have consistently performed at the international level, such as Avinash Sable and Parul Chaudhary.

While most athletes have met the required criteria during the meet despite the strict qualification standards, sprinters Gurindervir Singh and Manikanta Hoblidar, who had surpassed the AFI-set qualifying mark for the 100m at the Indian Grand Prix-1 before the Federation Cup, were not included in the Asian Games squad for the event.

This decision came despite their earlier performances, as Gurindervir finished seventh in the Federation Cup after suffering from cramps, while Manikanta secured third place. Furthermore, Neeraj Chopra will not be part of the team due to international commitments, which include participating in the Doha Diamond League and the Neeraj Chopra Classic.
