Miltiadis Tentoglou leaps five centimetres further than Wayne Pinnock at Lausanne Diamond League 2024.
Miltiadis Tentoglou needed six attempts to win the men’s long jump title at Lausanne Diamond League 2024. Tentoglou recorded a jump of 8.06m as Wayne Pinnock finished second with 8.01m and Simon Ehammer ended up third place with a best attempt of 7.99m.
The Olympic champion could only clear the 8m mark once in the event but it was enough to finish on top. Tentoglou was in seventh place until he leaped 7.97m in his fifth attempt; it helped him finish third.
Ehammer, Tentoglou and Pinnock lined up for the sixth and final attempt as the Jamaican was confident of finishing first. Ehammer confirmed the third spot by registering a final as Pinnock registered 7.85m. He was not happy with the mark as he was the only athlete to breach the 8m mark in the first five rounds.
Tentoglou was cheered up by the crowds as Pinnock and his coach watched the Greek athlete steal his place. He jumped 8.06m to extend the winning streak. Paris Olympics 2024 bronze medallist, Mattia Furlani finished a disappointing sixth with a best attempt of 7.88m. Only Pinnock and Tentoglou could breach the 8m mark.
