On August 22, the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Lausanne will come alive with excitement as it hosts the Lausanne Diamond League2024 meet.
This event, the 11th of the Wanda Diamond League series, is expected to be an intense league. Following the recent Paris Olympics 2024, Lausanne will be the stage where Olympic champions aim to redeem themselves and show resilience.
Athletes who excelled at the Paris Games will be competing in Lausanne to continue their strong performances.

Team USA, which dominated the track and field at Paris Olympics 2024 with a record 34 medals, will be looking to maintain their winning streak at the Diamond League meet. Here are five standout American athletes to keep an eye on at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024.

5. Chase Jackson
In the women’s shot put event in Lausanne, all eyes will be on Chase Jackson , the two-time world champion who is a strong contender for the podium.
After missing the Olympic finals, she will be aiming to make a significant impact and hit her highest level again.
She will face Ogunleye who won the Olympic gold with a final-round personal best of 20.00m.
4. Sam Kendricks
While all eyes will be on Mondo Duplantis, Sam Kendricks will also be a key competitor in men’s pole vaulting. The American, who secured the silver at Paris 2024 and has previously earned bronze in 2016, has also won the World Championships titles in 2017 and 2019. He is set to compete alongside the top four from the Paris Games.
Kendricks will be competing with a renewed focus on improving his performance.

3. Fred Kerley
Fred Kerley, the 100m bronze medalist from Paris Olympics will be a key contender in the men’s 200m at the Lausanne Diamond League.
Although he withdrew from the 200m at the Paris Games to focus on the 100m where he clocked 9.81 seconds to finish behind Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson, Kerley is set to compete against a strong field. This includes 200m finalists Erriyon Knighton, Joseph Fahnbulleh, Alexander Ogando as well as Letsile Tebogo, who stunned with a golden run in the 200m to become Botswana’s first Olympic champion.
2. Grant Holloway
Grant Holloway, who clinched the Olympic gold in the 110m hurdles with a 12.99-second finish is a top athlete to keep an eye on at the Lausanne event.
Grant Holloway won the silver in the Tokyo 2020 and has stayed unbeaten throughout this season.

1. Cole Hocker
Cole Hocker secured a surprise victory in the 1500m at the Paris Olympics and is now a top contender for the event. He outpaced favourites Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr to set a new Olympic record with a time of 3:27.65.
Hocker will meet Ingebrigtsen again at the Lausanne Diamond League along with other rivals.
