India are having a solid outing at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, having already won 15 medals so far. The Indian athletics contingent will look to add to that tally as they begin their campaign today, and the men’s javelin throw event will be a big part of India’s medal charge.
The men’s javelin throw event has historically been a very successful one for India at the Asiad, with the country boasting five medals in the event. This includes Neeraj Chopra winning back-to-back golds at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and the 2022 Hangzhou Games.

However, Chopra will not be able to defend his men’s javelin title at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, as he had to pull out of the squad due to injury. Kishore Jena, who won silver at the Hangzhou Games, is also not a part of the men’s javelin squad.
Chopra, a double Olympic gold medallist, was replaced by 2026 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Yash Vir Singh. He will be joined by Rohit Yadav in Japan.
