This will be the final chance for Indian athletes to qualify for the Summer Games next month.
The National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024 meet at Panchkula will be the last domestic competition for Indian athletes to qualify for Paris Olympics 2024 and hence a mandatory event for all the athletes barring few, including World and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra who will compete in Europe to continue his preparation for Paris.
Indian stalwarts like Avinash Sable, Parul Chaudhary and Jyothi Yarraji will be in action. Interestingly Avinash Sable has opted for 1500m flat race instead of his steeplechase discipline. Jyothi, who missed the automatic Olympics Qualification mark twice by barest of 0.01s margins, will be aiming for direct OQM and setting a new National Record.
The trio of women’s long jumpers, Shaili Singh, Ancy Sojan and Nayana James are far away from qualification mark but, matching the NR at the Interstates might help them qualify via rankings route. Tejas Shirse too will be aiming for OQM as by rankings, it seems not possible. Tejaswin Shankar and Sarvesh Kushare are closely placed in high jump rankings, matching the NR can help them make the cut.
The list it pretty long as it goes, everyone will be chasing their Paris 2024 dreams. We may witness a haul of best performances, including some national records at this meet.

The National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024 is scheduled to take place in Panchkula, Haryana from June 27 to 30. The event will be held at the Tau Devi Lal stadium in Haryana.
