Neeraj Chopra to participate in Lausanne Diamond League 2026

Neeraj recently clinched a silver at the 2026 CWG in Glasgow
India’s Neeraj Chopra will compete in the men’s javelin throw event at the upcoming Lausanne Diamond League 2026 on August 21, the organisers have confirmed.
The 28-year-old athlete, fresh from a silver medal at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, will look to make an impact in what would be his third appearance this year.
The 12th edition of Athletissima, as the event is popularly called, features one of the strongest javelin throw lineups seen this season.
Apart from Neeraj, it will also feature the reigning Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, two-time world champion Anderson Peeters, and CWG 2026 gold medallist Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage.
For Neeraj, the upcoming Athletissima represents a chance to end his international title drought stretching back more than a year.
The two-time Olympic medallist has been dealing with a lower-back injury for a long time and was recently beaten by Sri Lanka’s Pathirage for gold at the Glasgow Games.
Neeraj, however, has a good track record in the Diamond League. He won back-to-back titles in Lausanne in 2022 and 2023, and set a national record of 90.23m at the Doha Diamond League 2025.
However, the Indian star could only manage a fourth-place finish in the Doha Diamond League event this year, with the gold going to Pathirage.
The Sri Lankan athlete once again bested Neeraj at the Glasgow Games, and their duel will be a highlight in the upcoming tournament.
