The two shared a discussion on various issues including sports.

India’s most successful Olympian, Neeraj Chopra recently met the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Lok Kalyan Marg on December 23.

The two-time Olympic champion, along with wife Himani Mor, interacted with the PM at his residence, speaking on several topics, which one would assume, primarily revolved around Indian sports, and its growth in recent times.

The Prime Minister took to his social media account (X), and posted a picture of the trio having a discussion, and wrote, “We had a great interaction on various issues including sports of course!”

Modi may have touched upon India’s successful bid to host the Centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030, along with the broader ambition of staging the 2036 Olympic Games.

He would also have been keen to hear Chopra’s perspective on India’s steady progress in athletics, particularly in javelin, and the emergence of a promising new generation of talent.

The year 2025 also marked a milestone with the inauguration of the Neeraj Chopra Classic, a tournament envisioned to give aspiring Indian javelin throwers the opportunity to test themselves against world-class competition.

Early signs of its impact are already visible in athletes like Sachin Yadav, who finished fourth at both the 2025 World Athletics Championships and the Neeraj Chopra Classic, underlining the depth of talent coming through the ranks.

As the sun set on the 2025 calendar year, Neeraj Chopra’s season unfolded as a blend of historic highs and unexpected challenges.

The Indian javelin ace achieved one of the most anticipated milestones of his career at the Doha Diamond League, where he breached the 90-metre barrier for the first time with a throw of 90.23m, setting a new national record.

He followed it up with strong showings across the circuit, winning the Paris Diamond League and the Ostrava Golden Spike, and finishing second overall in the Diamond League standings, underlining his continued presence among the global elite.

However, the World Athletics Championships proved to be a rare stumbling block. Battling injury and inconsistency, Chopra finished eighth, marking his first non-podium result at a major championship since 2018 and ending a remarkable run of dominance on the biggest stages.

Away from elite competition, the year still held positives, with Chopra winning the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru and taking pride in nurturing the next generation of Indian javelin throwers.
