Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem, both athletes are Olympic champions.

Neeraj Chopra has finished above Arshad Nadeem in 11 out of 12 competitions that the two javelin throwers have faced each other. The only time Arshad defeated Neeraj was at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Nadeem has a personal best throw of 92.27m, both Asian Record and Olympic Record achieved at Paris 2024. Chopra’s best throw, on the other hand, is 90.23m came at the Doha Dimaond League 2025.

At the World Athletics Championships 2025 men’s javelin final on September 18, Thursday, Neeraj Chopra once again finished ahead of his long-time rival Arshad Nadeem.

The Tokyo Olympics champion finished eighth with 84.03m throw and that marked the first time since 2018 that the Indian star missed the podium at a major event. Nadeem, meanwhile, endured an even tougher night, failing to make the top-eight cut and finishing 10th overall with 82.75m of best throw.

The Indian ace sealed his final spot in Tokyo with a flawless 84.85m throw on his very first attempt in Group A. Meanwhile, Nadeem, after two below-par efforts, saved his campaign with an 85.28m throw, both comfortably breaching the automatic qualification mark of 84.5m.

Neeraj could not defend his world title this time, having won gold in Budapest in 2023 after claiming silver at the 2022 edition in the USA.

At the same event in 2023, Arshad created history for Pakistan by winning their first-ever World Championships medal, a silver.
