Neeraj Chopra wins Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 javelin event in Bengaluru

Neeraj Chopra won the title in the inaugural edition of Neeraj Chopra Classic at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, July 5. Chopra, a two-time Olympic medallist, finished first in the standings with a best attempt of 86.18m.
The NC Classic 2025 was the first-ever Continental Tour Gold-level or A-Category athletics event to be staged in India. The event was organized by India’s best javelin thrower Chopra himself, with support from JSW Sports, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), and World Athletics (WA).
Chopra, 27, started the competition with a foul throw and followed it up with an 82.99m throw in his second attempt. He registered the winning throw of 86.18m in his third attempt. That was followed by another foul throw in his fourth attempt and throws of 84.07m and 82.22m in his last two attempts at the Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025.
Kenya’s Julius Yego bagged the second position in the standings with a season-best throw of 84.51m, which came off his fourth attempt. Yego registered throws of 79.97m, 80.07m, and 79.73m in his first three throws. The Kenyan javelin thrower bagged a foul throw and 82.45m in his last two throws of the night.

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage finished third with a best throw of 84.34m in his third attempt. His remaining legal throws were 71.19m, 81.90m, 80.10m, and 77.2m. He registered one foul throw in Bengaluru at the Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025.
Sachin Yadav from India bagged the fourth spot with a best throw of 82.33m, which came during the third round of the event. Yashvir Singh (79.65m), Sahil Silwal (77.48m), and Rohit Yadav (77.11m) were the three other Indian javelin throwers in action at Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025. They finished eighth, ninth, and 10th, respectively, in the standings.
