Ostrava Golden Spike 2024, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, is primed for a series of world-class competitions when it takes place in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Tuesday. While the men’s javelin throw will be missing Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra of India, the rest of the lineup features numerous Olympic and world champions across track and field disciplines.

On the track, the men’s 100m sprint will pit Olympic champions against each other as Italy’s Marcell Jacobs, the 2020 100m gold medalist, races Canada’s Andre De Grasse, the 200m Olympic champion. De Grasse will later double back for the 200m event. The 400m will be a showdown between reigning Olympic champion Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas and world indoor champion Alexander Doom of Belgium.

The field events are similarly stacked with talent. Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, the world and Olympic champion, headlines that competition just weeks after setting a new world record of 6.24m. Multiple global medalists will compete in the javelin throw, including men’s world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada and women’s world champion Haruka Kitaguchi of Japan.

Other Olympic and world medalists slated to compete include Leonardo Fabbri of Italy in the men’s shot put, Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic in the men’s javelin, Molly Caudery of Great Britain in the women’s pole vault, and Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland in the 100m hurdles.
