In Neeraj Chopra’s absence, Jakub Vadlejch and Arshad Nadeem will be among the favourites in men’s javelin competition.
The Paris Diamond League 2024 will be the eighth Diamond League meeting of the 2024 season. The event is scheduled for July 7, Sunday, at the Charlety Stadium in Paris. It is one of the three Diamond League 2024 meets taking place in July ahead of Paris Olympics 2024.
With less than a month until the Olympic Games, track and field athletes will aim for impressive performances at the Paris Diamond League 2024. Some will look to regain their form, while others will aim to maintain their winning momentum.
Since many prominent names are marking their presence at the Diamond League leg, let’s look at the top five athletes to watch out for at the event.
Athletes to watch at Paris Diamond League 2024
5) Natalia Kaczmarek
Natalia Kaczmarek was one of the top performers at the European Athletics Championships where she bagged her first-ever individual gold medal in the 400m event, clocking a sensational time of 48.98. With this performance, she landed herself in the third position among the best timings so far in 2024.
This performance makes her one of the top athletes to watch out for at the Paris Diamond League 2024. She will feature in a solid women’s 400m lineup comprising Marileidy Paulino, Salwa Eid Naser, and Lieke Klaver among others.
4) Nicola Olyslagers
The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Nicola Olyslagers will be competing at the Paris Diamond League as a strong contender to win the women’s high jump. So far, she is the second-best performer in the women’s high jump in the 2024 season with a best effort of 2.03 which she achieved at the ACT U20 & Open Championships 2024.

She also accomplished her first-ever title at the World Athletics Indoor Championships with a 1.99m effort this season. However, at the 2024 Paris Diamond League, she will contend with a strong field that includes the 2023 world champion and silver medalist Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Eleanor Patterson, and other notable competitors.
3) Jakub Vadlejch
The three-time Diamond League champion Jakub Vadlejch has been impressive in the 2024 season, with a season-best throw of 88.38m in the Doha leg of the Diamond League. He will look to continue his fine form at the Paris Diamond League with just three weeks remaining for the Summer Olympics.
However, with the presence of a star-studded field in the Diamond League leg consisting of Anderson Peters, Julian Weber, and Arshad Nadeem among other names, it won’t be easy for Vadlejch to win the contest.
2) Faith Kipyegon
Faith Kipyegon is another prominent name who will be in action at the Paris Diamond League 2024. The 1500m world record holder Kipyegon made her 2024 season debut at the Kenyan National Trials for the Olympic Games where she registered a time of 3:53.98. However, she is expected to face a strong challenge from Laura Muir, Ciara Mageean, Jessica Hull, and Katie Snowden among others.
1) Mondo Duplantis
Pole vault world Mondo Duplantis will aim for yet another record-breaking performance at the Paris Diamond League 2024. This event is the last fixture on the 24-year-old’s schedule before he heads to the Paris Olympics 2024 to defend his Olympic title. This year has already seen the pole vaulter smash the world record for the eighth time on his season opener at the Xiamen Diamond League with a 6.24m clearance.
