Paris Diamond League will serve as a final preparation for Paris Olympics.
The Paris Diamond League 2024 is the eighth leg of the Diamond League 2024 season which is set to culminate with the final leg taking place in Brussels on September 13 and 14.
Scheduled on July 7, the Paris Diamond League 2024 will see many track and field athletes continue their journey on the international circuit after participating in their nation’s respective Track and Field Olympic trials.
The event is one of the important international meetings as they provide Diamond League points to the athletes to qualify for the Wanda Diamond League 2024 finals. A total of 15 events, comprising both male and female categories, will offer Diamond League points to the athletes at the Paris leg.
Indians participating at Paris Diamond League 2024
Avinash Sable (Men’s 3000m Steeplechase) and Kishore Jena (Men’s Javelin throw) are the two Indian athletes who will be competing at the Paris Diamond League 2024. Earlier, it was reported that the reigning Olympic and World Champion Neeraj Chopra had withdrawn from the Paris Diamond League.
However, the 26-year-old recently clarified that the Paris leg was not included in his competition calendar for the 2024 season.

Sable, who is the national record holder in the 3000m steeplechase, opened his campaign in the distance at the 2024 Portland Track Festival in the United States where he clocked an 8:21.85.
He also recently took part at the 2024 National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships where he bettered his own meet record, clocking a 8:31.75 to win the gold.
Meanwhile, Kishore Jena hit over the 80m mark for the first time in 2024 after throwing a best effort of 80.84m at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships. Jena had a sensational 2023 season that saw him qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024 while winning the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games.
Other prominent names who will be competing at Paris Diamond League 2024
World record-holders Mondo Duplantis and Faith Kipyegon will be two of the main attractions at the Paris Diamond League in the men’s pole vault and women’s 1500m event.
Duplantis will aim to break his own world record at the Diamond League leg, while Kipyegon will strive for another impressive performance. With the Paris Olympics less than a month away, she plans to compete in both the 1500m and 5000m events.
However, there are some noteworthy Olympic, World Championships, European, and African Championships medalists who are also marking their presence at the event.
The star-studded lineup includes the likes of Jamal Britt, Trey Cunningham (men’s 100m hurdles), Alison dos Santos (men’s 400m hurdles), Marileidy Paulino, Salwa Eid Naser, Natalia Kaczmarek, Lieke Klaver, Alexis Holmes, and Laviai Nielsen (women’s 400m), Ewa Swoboda, Mujinga Kambundji (women’s 100m), Beatrice Chepkoech, Winfred Yavi (women’s 3000m steeplechase), and Emmanuel Wanyonyi (men’s 800m) among others in track events.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Nicola Olyslagers, Eleanor Patterson (women’s high jump), Valarie Allman, Sandra Elkasević, Yaime Perez (women’s discus throw), Malaika Mihambo (women’s long jump), Jakub Vadlejch, Anderson Peters, Arshad Nadeem, and Julian Weber (men’s javelin throw) are a few of the athletes to watch out for in field events.
