When and where to watch Neeraj Chopra in action at Paris Olympics 2024?

Neeraj Chopra is hoping to have an impressive start to his title defence at Paris Olympics 2024.

Day 11 of Paris Olympics 2024 will feature Indian Olympic legend Neeraj Chopra in action. He is the nation’s biggest hope at Paris and the defending champion men’s Javelin throw. While the first few days of Paris saw India’s shooters and shuttlers steal the limelight, the attention will now shift to different disciplines.

The next few days will involve track and field athletes and wrestlers in the limelight. But the athletics contingent has been facing a lot of hurdles at Paris. Neeraj will look to start his campaign on the right track as his roar awaits Stade de France.

The 26-year-old will be competing alongside fellow Indian, Kishore Jena. Neeraj will be in group B of qualification while Jena will start first in group A of qualification.

There will be few rivals along with Neeraj Chopra who will be looking to qualify for the finals in group B. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, Grenada’s Anderson Peters and Germany’s Max Dehning. The qualification standard is set at 84m and the top 12 athletes will qualify for the final.

Dehning has the best throw this season with an attempt of 90.20m. He is the only athlete to breach the 90m mark. Meanwhile, Chopra has a best attempt of 88.36m and Peters with 86.62m. Nadeem is yet to be in form as his best this season has been 84.21m.

Meanwhile Jena achieved a best throw of 80.84m this season. He will face tough competition from Julius Yego, Keshorn Walcott, Julian Weber and Jakub Vadlejch.

Chopra will aim to have fewer throws and conserve his energy for the final. He is expected to finish on top of the qualification and defend his title successfully on August 8 at 11 pm (IST). Chopra could set a personal best this time and breach the 90m mark for the first time in his career.

The defending Olympic champion will be cheered by the Indian fans at Paris. Few more hours as Chopra will begin his final preparations for Paris.

When will Paris Olympics 2024 men’s javelin throw qualification round start?

The men’s Javelin throw qualification round will be held on Tuesday, August 6, with Group A (Kishore Jena) starting at 1:50 pm IST (10:20 am local time) and Group B (Neeraj Chopra) starting from 3:20 pm (11:50 am local time).
