He will be in action in the men’s high jump final, which is his primary event, where he holds the national record of 2.29m set in 2018. Tejaswin will start the event as the favourite, with Maharashtra’s Sarvesh Anil Kushare giving him a tough fight in the competition.

Additionally, the 26-year-old athlete will compete in the men’s 110m hurdles event. He previously competed overseas but will play his first 110m hurdles in India.

Mohammed Afsal P

National record holder in men’s 800m Mohammed Afsal P has been in great form, having set a new national record of 1:45.61 seconds in Dubai last month. He is the favourite to clinch the gold medal in the men’s 800m race and will look to clock a good time in Bengaluru.

Considering his recent performance, Afsal is surely a player to watch out for in the Indian Open Athletics Meet on Saturday.

Nithya Gandhe

Nithya Gandhe will represent Telangana in the women’s 100m and 200m races at the Indian Open Athletics Meet 2025. She was a member of India’s silver-medal-winning team in the 4x100m relay at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025.

Nithya has a season best of 11.41 seconds in the 100m set during the Indian Grand Prix 1 in Bengaluru. In the 200m event, she has a best of 23.36 seconds recorded at the same event. The Indian athlete will look to better the timing and get closer to breaking the national record later this year.
