Reegan Ganesh sets Indoor National Record in men's pole vault at 1st National Indoor Athletics Championships 2026

Reegan Ganesh shattered the indoor national record in men’s pole vault event on the second day of the 1st National Indoor Athletics Championships 2026 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The Tamil Nadu-born athlete registered a best vault of 5.30m to set a new national indoor record and also clinch a gold medal in the event. With this effort, Reegan registered his personal best and is also third among India’s all-time pole vaulters.
Dev Meena is first in the list and also holds the outdoor national record of 5.40m, set last year. Subramani Siva is second on the list with a 5.31m vault to his name.
En route to the indoor national record and gold medal at the 1st National Indoor Athletics Championships 2026, Reegan G also breached the Commonwealth Games (CWG) qualification mark.
The young Indian pole vaulter began his campaign with a 4.95m vault. He then cleared 5.10m, 5.20m, and 5.30m in his first tries. He tried clearing the 5.41m to set a new national record but failed during all three attempts.
Rambeer Singh from the Army won silver medal with the best vault of 4.85m, while Bineesh Jacob from the Railway Sports took home the bronze medal, clearing the 4.55m mark. He shared the bronze medal with Maharashtra’s Rohan Patil, who also finished with 4.55m.
Four athletes failed to clear a single vault and ended their campaign with no mark, while five others did not start the event.
