Eight Olympic gold medallists from Paris will be competing at Rome Diamond League 2024.

The Rome Diamond League 2024 will be underway in a day as the athletes will compete to take the title. There will be seven events each for men and women in the 13th leg of the Wanda Diamond League. The Golden Gala Pietro Mennea will see the clash of heavyweights in multiple events.

The Rome Diamond League 2024 will start with the men’s discus throw event. Jamaica’s Roje Stona will be making his Diamond League debut at Rome. The Olympic champion is the first athlete in track and field to make their Diamond League debut after securing gold at the Olympics.

Stona will be joined by world record-holder Mykolas Alekna and Paris Bronze medallist Matthew Denny. Meanwhile Stona’s coach Ryan Crouser will seek to avenge his defeat at Silesia a few days earlier to Joe Kovacs in men’s shot put.

Focusing on the track events, the men’s 100m event will see multiple stars aiming to take the title. Letsile Tebogo, Ferdinand Omanyala, Christian Coleman and Tokyo Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs and Fred Kerley will be eyeing a close finish at Rome. Omanyala holds the season’s second fastest timing of 9.79 seconds.

Jessica Hull, who challenged the Kenyan runner at Paris while securing silver, will be eager to do the same again.

Meanwhile, the first women’s event will feature the stars of the pole vault soaring high. Olympic champion Nina Kennedy will lead the field, alongside Paris bronze medallist Alysha Newman.

The women’s long jump event will showcase a head-to-head between two Americans. Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall, the first woman to clear the 7m mark this year, will face tough competition from Jasmine Moore.
