Will Neeraj Chopra participate at Xiamen Diamond League 2025 today?

The Xiamen Diamond League 2025 will be held on Saturday, 26 April in Xiamen, China.

All eyes are on the world’s top track and field athletes as the 2025 Diamond League season kicks off at Egret Stadium in Xiamen, China. However, Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra will not be part of the action this Saturday, April 26th. The reason? The men’s javelin throw is not part of the 14 featured disciplines in the Xiamen leg of the prestigious series.

This year’s Xiamen Diamond League features 100m, 400m, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 3000m steeplechase, pole vault, and long jump events in the men’s category. India will still have representation with long-distance runner Avinash Sable set to compete in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, marking him as the country’s sole participant in this leg.

Reigning javelin world champion and Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist Neeraj Chopra will begin his 2025 season at the Doha Diamond League. This is familiar ground for Chopra, as Doha has been his opening season for the last two years.

In the Diamond League series, he claimed victory in 2023 with an 88.67m throw and followed it up in 2024 with a second-place finish at 88.36m, narrowly trailing Czech Olympian Jakub Vadlejch.

Following Doha, Chopra is set to compete at the Neeraj Chopra Classic on May 24 in Bengaluru, India. This World Athletics ‘A’ category event promises to be a major highlight on his calendar.

With a brilliant 2024 season behind him, Chopra aims to carry that momentum forward in 2025 with eyes firmly set on both distance and consistency.
