The contest between Olympic Champion Julien Alfred and 60m world record holder Devynne Charlton will be the battle to watch out for.

The World Athletics Indoor Championships 2025 will be held from March 21 to 23 in Nanjing, China. The event will be played at the Nanjing’s Cube gymnasium in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park. Over three days, a total 26 events will take place—13 for men and 13 for women. A total 576 athletes from 127 countries are scheduled to participate in the prestigious indoor event.

The qualification period for all the events was from September 1, 2024, to March 9, 2025. There were two ways of qualification—one by breaching the automatic qualification mark and another via rankings. Each nation is allowed to send two athletes per event in the competition until and unless a particular athlete gets a wildcard by winning the World Indoor tour; only then a nation is allowed to send three athletes per event.

All eyes will be on Mondo Duplantis, the current world record holder in the Pole Vault category, who will look to rewrite his world record one more time. There is also the women’s 100m champion, Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia who will compete in the 60m category. She will face Devynne Charlton of Bahamas who is the current 60m world record holder. The battle between these two Caribbean ladies will be interesting to watch. In the men’s 60m, current world record holder Grant Holloway will be in action.

Femke Bol, the world and Olympic medalist will also represent her country Netherlands. Meanwhile, two-time men’s Olympic Champion Miltiadis Tentoglou and women’s Olympic Champion Tara Davis-Woodhall will also be in action. The Great Britain 1500m World Champion Josh Kerr will also be participating.
