8:05 PM It was a disappointing day for Indian athletes. Hardeep Kumar, Anu Kumar and Amandeep Singh Dhaliwal were all disappointing, to say the least. The only good news came in the form of Rohan Gautam Kamble, who has reached the next round of the men's 400m hurdles.

8:00 PM Men's Shot Put: The bottom four athletes have been disqualified. So, that is the end of Amandeep Singh Dhaliwal in the competition.

7:55 PM Men's Shot Put: In the third attempt, Amandeep registers a distance of 17.08m. He stays in the bottom position and has now been eliminated.

7:45 PM Men's Shot Put: After two attempts, Belarusian Yauheni Bryhi is the leader with a 19.70m throw.

7:40 PM Men's Shot Put: Amandeep's second attempt is also a foul throw. This is really disheartening.

5:40 PM Welcome back for the evening session of Day 2 of the World Athletics U-20 Championships.

1:15 PM That concludes all the action from the afternoon session. Join us again in the evening at around 5:35 PM IST. Amandeep Singh Dhaliwal will be contesting for a medal in the men's shot put final. Until then, take care. See you soon!

1:10 PM Men's 800m: After the conclusion of all the four heats, Anu Kumar of India has failed to qualify for the next round. He misses out on a whisker. South Africa's Abednico Choba had clocked a timing of 1:50.20, to be the last automatic qualifier. Anu Kumar's timing was 1:50.26. Really unlucky is the Indian boy, it must be said.

1:05 PM Men's 800m: Comfortable victory for Algeria's Mohamed Ali Gouaned. His timing has been recorded as 1:48.83.

1:02 PM Men's 800m: The fourth and final heat will begin shortly. Eight athletes will be taking part in this heat.

1:00 PM Men's 800m: Handal Roban of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has set a new national Under-20 record with a timing of 1:49.41. He finished in fourth place in the race. Fantastic effort from the islander!

12:52 PM Men's 800m: There is news coming through that Ethiopia's Ermiah Girma has been disqualified. He had finished ahead of India's Anu Kumar in Heat 1. This means that Anu Kumar jumps up to the 4th spot now. But will his timing of 1:50.26 be enough to take him through?

12:44 PM Men's 800m: There will be a total of four heats, with three more heats to go. So, it is unlikely that Anu Kumar will feature in the next round. But, let's wait and see.

12:24 PM 400m hurdles: Brazilian Gabriel Santos and Poland's Jakub Sobura-Durma ends in second and third place.

11:40 AM Rohan Gautham and Hardeep Kumar will begin the day's action for the Indian contingent. They will look to push themselves in the 400m hurdles in search of a World Athletics U-20 Championships medal.

Anu Kumar clinched the gold medal at the 2018 Junior Asian Athletics Championships and is in good stead to replicate that feat at the World Athletics U-20 Championships. Although he is not in his best form, the Uttarakhand-born runner is one of the brightest talents in India, in middle distance running.

The day will be rounded off by shot-putter Amandeep Singh Dhaliwal. He finished sixth in qualifying and will look to get closer to his personal best of 19.16 metres in search of a medal today at the World Athletics U-20 Championships.

It was a successful opening day for Indian athletes at the World Athletics U-20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya. The 4x400m mixed relay team won a historic bronze medal. On the other hand, Priya Mohan reached the final of the women’s 400m.

Anu Kumar will be the bbiggest name to watch out today. Anu Kumar shot to fame after winning the gold medal at the 2018 Junior Asian Athletics Championships. The Uttarakhand-based middle-distance runner clocked 1:54.11 to get the better of Iran’s Abdolrahim Dorzadeh, who clocked at 1:54.23. He had earlier won a silver medal in the 800m at the World School Games in France and a gold medal at the Junior Federation Cup. With the continental title in his pocket, he harboured dreams of making it big on the circuit. However, the 18-year-old’s luck took a sudden dive. A shattered ankle, a harsh lockdown, and his father’s demise followed his on-track success.

He has since made a successful comeback, and will look to clinch a podium finish at the World u-20 Athletics Championships
