There will be 14 Paris Olympic champions competing at Zurich.
The 2024 season’s Wanda Diamond League calendar is closing in on its final stages. Athletes will be next seen at the Zurich Diamond League 2024. It will be the 14th and final leg of the Wanda Diamond League series before the season finale in Zurich later this month. There will be 14 events overall with seven events each for men and women.
The first event at Zurich will be the women’s pole vault which will see the three Paris Olympics 2024 medallists battle once again for the title. Nina Kennedy will be hoping to lift the title as she will be closely challenged by veteran Katie Moon and Alysha Newman.
One of the most awaited line-ups will be in the women’s 100m as Juilen Alfred will go head-to-head against Sha’Carri Richardson. The history-making Olympic champion will be the favourite while Richardson will run to prove the odds wrong.
The women’s 5000m event will be led by Beatrice Chebet and she will be joined by Ethiopian runners, Tsigie Gebreselama and Ejgayehu Taye. Chebet had won the 5000m title in 2022 and will be aiming to do the same this time.
Meanwhile the women’s high jump continues to be one of the most thrilling events of the league as all four Paris Olympics 2024 medallists will be present at Zurich. Yaroslava Mahuchikh’s winning streak has not been threatened but Nicola Olyslagers, Iryna Gerashchenko and Eleanor Patterson will try to topple her reign.

In the men’s long jump, Miltiadis Tentoglou will be look to maintain his dominance. He could be upstaged by Wayne Pinnock, who had come close at Lausanne. Shifting to track events, Cole Hocker and Jakob Ingebrigtsen will be renewing their rivalry at Zurich in men’s 1500m which will be the second last event at Zurich ahead of the women’s 4x100m relay.
The men’s 200m event can again see an entertaining finish by Letsile Tebogo as there will be five Americans challenging him. Fred Kerley, Erriyon Knighton and Kenneth Bednarek are the top sprinters other than Tebogo.
