As the Diamond League 2024 season draws toward its culmination, the Zurich meeting on September 5 stands out as a decisive event for athletes aiming to qualify for the Finals. The events are set to commence on September 4 with the women’s pole vault at Zurich Main Station and a highly anticipated 100m exhibition race featuring pole vaulting sensation Mondo Duplantis and legendary 400m hurdler Karsten Warholm.

This event is crucial for athletes striving to secure their spots in the Diamond League finals. So, the athletes will be determined to set new personal and seasonal records. There will be no Indian athletes competing in Zurich.

Weltklasse Zurich on September 5 ensures a spectacular exhibition of premier athletic performances. Kenyan star Beatrice Chebet, a double Olympic gold medallist will headline the women’s 5000m. The sprinting events will be particularly exciting as Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo, the newly crowned Olympic 200m champion will face top American competitors Kenneth Bednarek and Fred Kerley.

In the 400m hurdles, Olympic silver medallist Anna Cockrell and Jamaican Rushell Clayton will be headlining the event. The women’s sprint events are set to be equally exciting as the 100m race will feature a high-profile duel between Olympic champions Julien Alfred and Sha’Carri Richardson along with Europe’s sprint queens Dina Asher-Smith and Mujinga Kambundji.

Adding to the excitement in Zurich, the men’s javelin throw will feature Grenada’s Anderson Peters, Kenya’s Julius Yego and Germany’s Julian Weber.

When and where is Zurich Diamond League 2024 taking place?

The Weltklasse Zürich, which serves as the finale of the Wanda Diamond League, will start on September 4 with the women’s pole vault event at Zurich Main Station and the meeting culminates on September 5 at Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich.

What are the events lined up in Zurich Diamond League 2024?

Athletes will compete in 14 events at Zurich. There will be seven events each in men’s and women’s divsion.
