India Open 2023: Updated Day 1 Schedule and Results

India's top seeds PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will be in action.
Defending champion in men's singles Lakshya Sen and 2017 winner PV Sindhu would be among those Indian shuttlers who will be in action on day 1 of the India Open 2023 Super 750 tournament. Sindhu will start off against Thailand’s Supanida Katethong, against whom she had lost in the last four stage of this tournament last year. While Sen will be up against compatriot HS Prannoy in the opening round of India Open 2023 and that can be an added pressure on the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion.
The India Open, which is part BWF World Tour, has been upgraded to the Super 750 category from this year and the world’s best players would be vying for the coveted title at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in New Delhi from January 17-22, 2023. Sen had won the title last year beating then-world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the final while Sindhu had reached the semi-finals stage. Apart from the duo, new World No. 5 in men's doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will also begin their challenge on January 17 (Tuesday).
