India Open 2023: Carolina Marin thrilled after beating Nojomi Okuhara in first round

Olympic gold medalist Carolina Marin started their campaign in India Open 2023 with a bang. She defeated Nojomi Okuhara of japan in her first match by 21-13, 21-18. With this win, Carolina Marin cruised to the second round of the India Open Super 750.
Spanish player Marin gave no chance to Nozomi Okuhara. Marin won the first game easily but in the second game, Okuhara takes the lead and gave a good fight. Meanwhile, Marin made a comeback and defeated Okuhara in the second game also. Marin will face Ratchanok Intanon in the round of 16 on Wednesday. Intanon won their first match against Malaysian Goh Jin Wei by 21-13, 21-11. She defeated her in just 27 minutes.

She said "When you play against a tough opponent like Okuhara you have to be ready. Happy that I beat her. I think when you win a match like this it gives you very confidence. I can face anyone. The crowd here was supporting me and I love when they support me. It feels great when you get the crowd support. Like I said before I love to play here in India. Many fans here and they love me and I love them also. I did not give up after the injury. I could not play in the Tokyo Olympics but always wanted to do a comeback.
