BWF German Open 2023 Highlights: Lakshya Sen, Mithun Manjunath and Malvika Bansod crash out from opening round

Welcome to the live blog for Day 2 of the BWF German Open 2023. A number of Indian shuttlers will be in action on Wednesday.
Lakshya Sen will lead India's charge at the BWF German Open 2023, which kickstarted on March 7 (Tuesday) at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Mulheim, Germany. Sen, who finished as runners-up in men's singles in the last edition, will eye the gold medal this time around. The main draw is set to begin on Wednesday. Apart from sixth-seeded Sen, Malvika Bansod and Tasnim Mir will also be in action in the women's singles, while newly crowned national champion Mithun Manjunath will be India's other participant in men's singles.
Earlier yesterday, Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian lost in the qualifiers while the mixed doubles pair of Sumeeth Reddy/Ashwini Ponnappa crashed out of the opening round. The mixed doubles pair of Reddy and Ponnappa lost to Scottish duo Adam Hall/Julie Macpherson 10-21, 12-21.
Sankar made it to the second round of the qualifiers before losing to Azerbaijan's Ade Resky Dwicahyo 21-23, 19-21. He had beaten Milan Dratva of Slovakia 21-11, 23-21 in the opening round.
Lakshya Sen, Mithun Manjunath, Malvika Bandosd and Tasnim Mir will begin their campaign in the Round of 32 in the German Open 2023.
