The tournament is taking place in Dubai from April 25 to 30.

The live streaming for the ongoing Badminton Asia Championships 2023 was stopped midway on April 27 (Thursday) without prior notice. Badminton Asia later announced on its social media that, “Due to rights issues we are unable to continue the live streaming. Apologies for the inconvenience.”

Earlier Badminton Asia had announced that the matches of the first three days will be live-streamed on Youtube and Facebook official channels. Broadcasters of respective countries will stream the event from the quarter-finals stage. Sony Sports and Sony Liv hold the television and streaming rights for India (28-30 April).

The first few matches on April 27 were live streamed, including India’s mixed doubles match of Ashwini Ponappa and Sumeeth Reddy. The Indian pair lost in the pre-quarterfinals to fourth-seed SEO Seung Jae and Chae Yu Jung in straight sets (18-21,15-21). In the men’s singles, Chinese shuttler Shi Yu Qi lost in the pre-quarterfinals to Angus Ka Long.

Badminton fans on Twitter showed their frustration with the matches not being live-streamed.
