An Se-young's Career in Numbers: Records, Stats, and Titles
World No. 2 already has five titles in the BWF World Tour 2023 Circuit.
Singapore Open 2023 concluded with An Se-young winning her fifth title in the BWF 2023 circuit. The Korean has also reached the finals of multiple events. She and the rest of the fab-four (Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei and Chen Yu Fei of China) have looked a level above the rest of the competitors in the women’s singles. The likes of PV Sindhu of India, Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand, Carolina Marin of Spain and Nozomi Okuhara of Japan have struggled to match the levels displayed by the top four players of the women’s singles in 2023.
An Se-young and Akane Yamaguchi have played each other in the finals of a BWF World Tour event four times already this season, both winning twice each. If the rest don’t start catching up, we might have the most non-competitive women’s singles lot heading into Olympics in the recent times. The men’s singles and men’s doubles categories have taken on the baton from the women’s singles being the most competitive category in badminton at the Olympics.
