India drawn alongside Malaysia, Hong Kong in Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2023

The tournament will take place in Indonesia from July 7 to 16.
The official draw for Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2023 was announced on June 27th (Tuesday) by Badminton Asia. India has been placed in Group C alongside giants Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh. The 23rd edition of junior continental championships will take place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from July 7-16, 2023.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) after holding trials released the squad for the competition. Tara Shah, currently ranked 7th in the girls’ singles category, and Ayush Shetty will lead the Indian contingent. Rakshitha Sree in the women's singles has been in the junior setup for quite some time and has already taken part in the World Junior Championships last year.

BAI recently entered into a partnership with REC Limited, a leading public infrastructure finance company for a two-week training camp ahead of Asia Junior Championships. The players are undergoing an extensive two-week training camp at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula as part of REC Limited’s support ahead of the championships.
Performances in previous edition of Badminton Junior Asia Championships
India has won a total of nine medals (gold 2, silver 1, and bronze 6) since the tournament's inception in 1997. Lakshya Sen (2018) and PV Sindhu (2012) are the only two Indians to have won the gold medal in men's and women's singles category.
