Viktor Axelsen's Career in Numbers: Records, Stats & Titles
The Tokyo Olympics gold-medallist completes a three-peat of the Indonesia Open.
Badminton superstar Viktor Axelsen reaches another milestone in his career. The 29-year-old completes a hattrick of title wins at the Indonesian Open. Viktor’s great run of form at the tournament continues at finals also as he secured victory over Indonesia’s A. Ginting (21-14,21-13).
Viktor Axelsen’s domination in the sport has also revived Denmark’s glory days in a way. Earlier it was mostly China (Lin Dan) or Malaysia (Lee Chong Wei) ruling the roost but now things have changed. Axelsen has started the 2023 season in the same fashion he ended the previous year. He was adjudged the “Male Player of the Year” in 2022 courtesy of his sublime form.
The 2023 season started in the same fashion for the Odense native. The 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist won the Malaysian Open and started his 2023 campaign with a bang. He won over other top players like Rasmus Gemke, Liew Daren, Kenta Nishimoto and Kodai Naraoka in the finals. Throughout the tournament, Axelsen lost only one game.
