Lakshya Sen will take on fifth seed Li Shi Feng of China in the men's singles final for the Canada Open 2023 title on Sunday (July 9). Sen, CWG 2022 champion, will be contesting his maiden World Tour Final in the 2023 season and would want to end his title drought. The two have faced each other six times in the past and Lakshya Sen enjoys a good lead of 4-2 in head-to-head (H2H) records against Li Shi Feng.

The last time they met, Lakshya had the last laugh as he defeated Li Shi Feng in straight games (21-17, 21-15). The once junior rivalry has now entered the senior stage and a mouth-watering clash await for the fans at the finals.

Lakshya Sen started his campaign with a brilliant win over second seed Kunlavut Vitidsaran (21-18,21-15). He has dropped only one game so far in the tournament — to Belgium's Julien Carragi in the quarter-finals. After defeating Vitidsaran, Lakshya had a smooth run till the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, he faced a tricky opponent Kenta Nishimoto whom he defeated with ease in straight games (21-17, 21-14).

Li Shi Feng, on the other hand, reached the final after defeating the third seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan (21-8,21-11). He completely destroyed Naraoka with his attacking display in the semi-finals. He had a tough first round against Hans Kristian Vittinghus where he made a comeback after losing first game badly and won the next two games. In the quarter-finals, he survived against Koka Watanabe and escaped from the brink of defeat.
