Japan Open 2023 - BWF Super 750 tournament will start on July 25, 2023. The competition has been held annually since 1977 and the current edition is set to take place at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo. Malaysia has won 11 titles in the tournament's history. The latest title came from Malaysian Legend Lee Chong Wei in 2016 defeating Jan O Jogerson in three games (21-18,15-21,21-16). He has won the title a record six times - 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016.
The Other five title winners are Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying (2012), Chang Chong Ming/Chew Choon Eng (2002), Roslin Hashim (2001), Cheah Soon Kit/Yap Kim Hock (1998), Jalani Sidek/Razif Sidek (1986).
In the last edition, Only Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi and Toh Ee Wei/Hoo Pang Ran were the only Malaysian pairing to reach the quarter-finals. The other Malaysian players had a disappointing Japan Open campaign, with the majority of the players losing in the opening round.
