Indonesian bigwigs have decided to skip the event.

The BWF Arctic Open 2023 is the eighth Super 500 event and the first event in October of the BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour 2023. For the uninitiated, the BWF World Tour now has nine Super 500 events, and the final one will be the Japan Masters 2023.

For Indonesia, the biggest names in the singles department have given the event a no-show. Neither Anthony Sinisuka Ginting nor Jonatan Christie will participate. However, in men's doubles, one of the two Indonesian pairs ranked top 10 in the event will feature.

In women's doubles, Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, the pair that made a Round 2 exit in the Asian Games, will also not play in the BWF Super 500 event. The mixed doubles event will also witness the top two ranked Indonesian pairs missing the tournament.
