A title win will help Japanese get into top 60s in BWF rankings.
Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki continued her fine run at the BWF Korea Masters 2023 by reaching the women's singles finals and, in the process, creating yet another piece of history. The 17-year-old Miyazaki defeated Tri Wardoyo of Indonesia to progress to the final in her maiden appearance at the BWF Super 300 level tournament.
The Japanese teenager started the tournament with a win over Italy's Sabrina Solis in less than 30 minutes. However, the following round wasn't easy as she had to battle hard for a victory against crowd favourite Sim Yu Jin in three games.
In the quarterfinals, Tomoka Miyazaki took on countrymate and seventh seed Natsuki Nidaira. After winning the opening round comfortably, the former had to battle hard as the experienced Nidaira bounced back strongly in the next two games. Prior to the Korea Masters, Miyazaki secured the top spot at Indonesia Masters.
The Japanese also reached the quarterfinals of BWF World Junior Championships and Asian Junior Championships. A win here will help her get closer to top 60s and end the year on a high.
Up next at the Korea Masters 2023, Tomoka Miyazaki, 17, will be battling out against number one seed Kim Ga Eun who has been in sublime for in the past week. The WR-19 did not enjoy much success during the European tour and failed to reach beyond round of 16 in two competition she took part in - French Open and Denmark Open.
After the Korea Masters 2023, Miyazaki will be taking part in Syed Modi International and will start campaign by competing from the qualifying rounds.
