Both Ayush Shetty and Tanvi Sharma has fantastic campaign in the recently concluded US Open.

After the historic run at the US Open Super 300, both Ayush Shetty and Tanvi Sharma have achieved a new career-high rankings in the latest BWF rankings released on Tuesday. Ayush, 20, climbed from World No. 34 to a new personal best of World No. 31, thanks to his title-winning performance in the tournament.

Not only is this Ayush’s first Super 300 title, but it also grants him direct entry into the prestigious Super 750 and Super 1000 tournaments. This also means that he will regularly compete against the world’s best players which will solidify his growth.

Ayush defeated Brian Yang in the finals to clinch India’s first title of 2025. He also became the first Indian men’s singles player to win a Super 300+ title outside India since Lakshya Sen’s Canada Open title in 2023. En route to his title, Ayush defeated WR #6 Chou Tien Chen in the semi-finals (21-23, 21-15, 21-14), showcasing his potential to be the world’s best.

He’s also previously reached the semi-finals at Orleans Masters and Taipei Open but fell short each time. However, at the US Open, he overcame it, leading to a historic win in the final.

On the other hand, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma scripted history by becoming the youngest Indian shuttler to reach the Super 300 final. She has entered the top #50 in women’s singles after a superb show in Iowa.

Entering the tournament as the underdog, Tanvi had a tough draw. However, she rose to the occasion by defeating WR #23 Nguyễn Thùy Linh of Vietnam in straight games, which was followed by another great win over 2023 World Junior Champion Pitchamon Opatniputh in the second round.

She then again defeated higher-ranked opponents in the QF and SF. Tanvi reached the final without dropping a single game.

In the finals, Tanvi faced veteran and home favourite Beiwen Zhang. She eventually lost the final but bowed out after a spirited fight and forcing a decider against WR #19. Tanvi has shown a lot of promise, and with her unbelievable deceptive skills, she can be the next big thing in the world. Her giant-killing spree has led her to the top 50 of the world rankings.
