The defending champions and hosts China edged past Japan in the semis to book their seat in the final of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025. The hosts were leading 2-1 ahead of the women’s doubles, but the local pairing of Chen Qing Chen/Wang Tingge lost 21-16, 21-18.

As a result, it all came down to the men’s doubles in which Chen Xujun and Huang Di overcame a 14-8 deficit in the final game to win 20-22, 21-17, 21-15 against Japan’s Mitsuhashi Kenya/Okamura Hiroki. This marked the fourth instance when a match involving China went to a decider.

Meanwhile, Indonesia beat Thailand 3-1 in the other semi-final. After losing the opening mixed doubles, the Indonesians struck a sensational comeback to claim three matches in a row, thereby securing their spot in the final.

Indonesia will play their maiden BAMTC final against defending champions, China.
