5. Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideon – 19

The Indonesian pair of Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon has been one of the best pairs in the circuit in the Men’s Doubles category. The duo came together in 2015 by their National coach after Marcus’ partner had to resign due to illness. Many thought the pairing might not work as Marcus had just beaten Kevin and his partner in the semis of the Indonesia Masters.

But it turned out to be a great decision as the pair became one of the best in history. Fondly called Minions for their fast-paced game with a below-average height, the Kevin-Marcus duo started winning championships.

They raced to the No.1 ranking and won 16 World Tour Titles in two years including two All England Championships and Indonesia Open. They have 19 World Tour Titles which is most in Men’s Doubles.

The Chinese pair became the first women’s doubles pair to win the World Championships four times. Apart from this, the pair also became the first Chinese pair to successfully defend the Denmark Open. Their rivalry with Baek Ha-na is one of the stories in the women’s circuit. The South Korean won the first finals against the duo and the pair replied pack with six consecutive wins in the finals before Ha-na won one back in the Indonesian Open last year.

Viktor Axelsen, the name Indians will not forget having knocked out Lakshya Sen from his dream run in the semifinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics. It is not the first time he broke the dreams of Indians and Lakshya Sen as he did in 2022 when he beat him in the finals of the All England Championships. He has 26 World Tour Titles, winning every major championship at least once.

He possesses a rare combination of solid defense and powerful smashes which makes his opponent stumble during rallies. This combination took him to the top of the World Rankings for 183 consecutive weeks, which is the third longest streak behind Lee Chong Wei (398) and Lin Dan (211). He is a two-time Olympic Champion and is the only non-Asian after Thomas Lund to the World Championships twice. Fans will see him lifting more titles.

1. Huang Yaqiong / Zheng Siwei – 33

The Reigning Olympic Champions Huang Yaqiong and Zheng Siwei lead the list with 33 World Tour Titles. The Mixed Doubles pair created quite a stir in the last few years beating every single opponent. Ironically, Zheng had partnered with Cheng Qingchen to make it to the top of the world rankings. But in November 2017 these two decided to forge a new pairing as Cheng started concentrating in Women’s Doubles.

That decision seems to be the best for the careers of all three players as they have been seen on the podium more often than not. Their partnership has been a joy to watch as they win games without dropping a sweat. Having dominated the world stage for years, Zheng announced his retirement in November 2024 and he ended his career on a high winning the 2024 World Tour Finals.

After a few weeks, her partner Huang also decided to quit. Fans are disappointed that they will miss this pair in the circuit.
