Alwi Farhan and Justin Hoh will lock horns in the men’s singles finals at Macau Open 2025

The Macau Open 2025 is down to its last destination. The BWF Super 300 event’s final matches are scheduled for Sunday, August 3. Unfortunately, the Indian contingent is no longer in the fray.

In the men’s singles final, Malaysia’s world No. 45 Justin Hoh will take on Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan.

Hoh earned his spot after a tough three-game win over India’s Tharun Mannepalli in the semifinals 19-21, 21-16, 21-16. Farhan, meanwhile, defeated India’s top men’s singles shuttler Lakshya Sen in straight games 21-16, 21-9, bringing India’s run at the tournament to a close.

Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani will go up against the Malaysian pair of Junaidi Arif and Roy King Yap in the men’s doubles event.

India’s top duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, had earlier bowed out in the quarterfinals falling short to Malaysia’s Choong Hon Jian and Muhammad Haikal.

In the women’s singles final, world No. 5 Chen Yu Fei of China will take on Denmark’s Line Christophersen.

World ranked 33 Christophersen came through a tight semifinal against Japan’s Riko Gunji 12-21, 21-8, 21-19, while Chen comfortably beat Chinese Taipei’s Lin Hsiang Ti 21-10, 21-19 to reach the final.

On the other hand, Japan’s Kaho Osawa and Mai Tanabe will meet Hsieh Pei Shan and Hung En-Tzu of Chinese Taipei in the women’s doubles final.

Meanwhile, in mixed doubles, the Danish duo Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje will face off against the Malaysian pair Jimmy Wong and Lai Pei Jing.

The total prize money at this year’s Macau Open is set at USD 370,000 (roughly INR 3.22 crore). The amount will be distributed among the winners as follows:

• Men’s and Women’s Singles Champions: USD 27,750 and 7,000 BWF points
• Winners in Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles: USD 29,230 and 7,000 BWF points
